This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.

What is a local move?
This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.

What is an intrastate move?
This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.

Should I store items that won’t fit in my new home? 
?You can choose to store items that won’t fit. However, if you have items that are old or have little value, you may be better to sell or donate them instead of paying the high cost of storing them for a long period. ? 

Do employees of moving companies have to be insured?
Yes, you should verify that all the professional movers and packers are insured by the company you select.

Should I disassemble my furniture before the move?
You can do this if you have time, but it’s not required. If your movers need to dismantle any furniture, they will reassemble it in your new home.

Will my moving company have extra packing materials?
Most moving companies will provide you with extra materials during the day of the move for an additional cost.

What should I do to prepare my appliances before my move?
Make sure that appliances such as your microwave, dishwasher and washing machine are completely empty before the move. You may also need to hire professionals to disconnect any electric and water connections.

What is overflow? 
?Movers may have to leave some of your belongings behind if there is insufficient space in the moving van or truck. If this is the case, make sure to leave the least essential items for the next truck that will be heading to your area. ? 

What is basic coverage for released rate liability?
This type of valuation means that your moving company will pay $0.60/pound multiplied by the weight of the item if it is lost or damaged during the move.

These refer to heavy items such as cars, snowmobiles, trailers or cars. Extra charges are usually applied because these items take up more space in the moving trucks/vans and require additional labour to load and unload.
